Mixing colors at home is a great way to create a warm and welcome home. The great thing is that many households have a lot of furniture, small items and paintings in their house. This gives you the opportunity to mix colors in a subtle way. There are a few guidelines and tips we would like to point out.

What goes wrong most often is that people start to mix to many colors. This will create a circus instead of a warm and welcome home. A good way to avoid this is to have one base color (which you can diverse with light to dark tones) in each room and give the room its color by the accessories you use.

For example your floor is dark coloured wood and your furniture is light pastel or grey. It is great to make your walls also have this light/dark combination in it. You can paint one wall light brown and color the other walls close to white (RAL9001). If you also choose your table to be dark brown you have a great stable base of colors which brings piece in your living room.

Now you can add colors by choosing blue, green or yellow paintings, lamps, flowers, statues or plants. This will give you a balanced feeling. There are many stores where you can buy this like online shops, Z gallerie, Feng Shui, or Buddha stores. The great thing is that you can replace accessories easily (and far more cheap). This will generate a new feeling to your living room without changing much!

For the kitchen you can also take a balanced set of colors as your base color. A kitchen is usually white as this feels like a clean color. To bring color into your kitchen it's great to have an open cupboard with colorful Le Creuset pans or Pfaltzgraff bowls.
